Episode Transcription

Hello world. My name is Matthew Cui, and I'm the host of the Long-Term Value podcast.

A little bit about me.

I spent the first seven years of my career working for a large aerospace and defense contractor, then with a few startups. After the last one didn't pan out, I spent some time reflecting on what I wanted to do next. The guiding light was where my mind wandered while I wasn't working, and it consistently led back to studying how certain things just seemed to last, from the principles employed by history's greatest founders and investors, to nature, health, and religion, the common thread being a long-term value orientation. My passion for this pattern, in addition to my passion for public equities, made me realize that my future is in long-term value investing.

Now, how does this relate to the Long-Term Value Podcast?

This podcast is my way of exploring the principles and philosophies behind things that endure. Whether it's a great business, timeless ideas, or even something from nature. Through conversations and stories about investors, entrepreneurs, natural phenomenon, and timeless systems, I aim to uncover these everlasting principles so that we may apply them in our own businesses, relationships, and lives.

I'm excited and grateful to share this journey with you all.

Take care and I'll talk to you soon.
